Rock art reflects an ancient human impulse to express and create. We have lifted these carvings from the stone and transformed them into silver jewelry, allowing their memory to be carried into the present day.

In Alta, we find Northern Europe’s largest concentration of rock art – petroglyphs and rock paintings created by hunter-gatherer societies between 2,000 and 7,000 years ago.
The motifs are carved into the rock and depict a life closely connected to nature, with reindeer, elk, bears, seabirds, boats, fish, and human figures in various situations – from hunting and fishing to rituals and social interaction. Some figures appear as direct representations, while others express stories and beliefs.
The rock art forms an important archaeological source, offering insight into ways of life, social structures, and worldviews in the northern regions several thousand years ago. It may have been created in connection with rituals and communication with the gods, but also served as a means of communication between people – a form of visual storytelling that still speaks to us today.
This jewelry collection presents a small selection of figures from the rock art of Alta, rendered as simple silver reproductions. Each figure is taken directly from the carvings and transferred into jewelry as they appear in their original form, without interpretation or alteration. A quiet way of carrying forward and sharing the images once carved into the stone.
